"As a child, I dreamed of a lush and verdant, misty jungle with stone ruins jutting out through the undergrowth. I had this idea that this must be what Timbuktu looked like, because it sounded so mystical and misty and lost in time. Kerstie shattered that dream when she told me that Timbuktu was a dry dusty desert landscape with one petrol station and a cocacola sign. Then she showed me pictures on the internet and I'm still cross with her." -Ash
(Well actually, Kerstie was way wrong too. Timbuktu is a thriving desert city with a rich and wonderful history. One day we will travel there and tell you all about it!)
